The Rabbis and the Financial Crisis

Here is an interesting take on the financial crisis from the Wall Street Journal online written by Robert B. Schonberger.   In the piece he compares today’s credit crunch with the credit crunch of the great Jewish sage Hillel’s time 2000 years ago.  In great Jewish fashion, there is already commentary on this article at the blog  jewschool.com.

Hillel saw that there needed to be a correction to the economic system that was set up by the the Torah.  Today we are seeing that there needs to be a correction to our age’s “Torah” or free-market capatalism.  I don’t know if Hillel would agree with how we are doing it today, though.
